The Canada Border Services Agency has announced that the temporary suspension of late payment penalties and interest
will end on January 31, 2026.
What This Means for Importers:
– Penalties will apply to overdue balances from your January 2026 statement
– Interest will start accruing on unpaid accounts effective January 31
– Unpaid accounts may be referred to CRA for collection
Action Required: Review your CARM account balance and ensure payments are current before January 31, 2026.
